Return visit from popular author
On Monday, the boys in Years 5 to 7 enjoyed a return visit from the author Peter Murray. Peter gave a highly interactive, dynamic and fun presentation to the boys, focusing on his latest novel, “Poppy Warrior” which has a World War One theme. Peter got the idea for the book having visited a school in Yorkshire, which had a beautiful embankment of poppies. The mystery of how the blooms got there inspired him to delve into a mixture of historical facts and meaningless computer game violence. Here, the seeds for Poppy Warrior began.
Peter is passionate in his quest to inspire even the least confident children to use their imagination and achieve creative success, and the boys were captivated throughout. A real coup for 'Reading for Enjoyment', and a number of boys enjoyed receiving their signed copies of his book, poster and bookmark on Tuesday.
