Head's Blog: Old Mole Success

The Year 8 boys have had a busy week taking their Common Entrance exams to their senior schools in Maths, English and Science. They were able to let off steam after their last exam with the traditional CE run around the school buildings followed by an ice cream. The boys now embark on an exciting, fun and alternative educational programme for their final 4½ weeks at Moulsford.

As our Year 8s make the transition to their senior schools, it was great to have a visit from Old Mole, Tom Williams, who left Moulsford in 2012. Tom has a passion for rally driving, making it his career and proving very successful at it. He is the only driver representing Britain at the FIA Junior World Rally Championships, the next stage of which is in Italy later this month.  Tom recognises that the skills he learnt at Moulsford have been incredibly valuable to him as he pursues his dream. He manages his own marketing, deals with the media, is his own mechanic and shows great resilience in his determination to succeed. He cites Miss Roberts’ Design and Technology lessons as being an inspiration to him and it was very fitting that BBC South Today wanted to tell his story in this very classroom. To see the clip, please click here (the item is at 10 minutes 47 seconds). Please note that it is only available on the BBC IPlayer until early this evening, so view it quickly to avoid disappointment!

The combination of strong academic performance and a broad extra-curricular education was very powerful for Tom and will also be of enormous benefit for your boys.
