8M help raise money for the Chiltern Centre for Disabled Children

As part of their post-scholarship programme, the boys in 8M spent a day on Tuesday helping the committee at the annual fundraising lunch in aid of the Chiltern Centre for Disabled Children.  Held at Bix Manor near Henley, the lunch and shopping extravaganza raised almost £10,000 for the charity.

The boys’ first job was to meet and greet guests as they arrived into the car park and direct them to the Manor House where the shopping stalls were set up.  Boys were then required to register guests and embark on the competitive task of selling raffle tickets and assisting with the silent auction, where their excellent social skills were fully utilised.

Committee member Liz Deacon, who oversaw the boys for the day, said: “We would like to say a HUGE thank you for the loan of your wonderful boys once again. They are simply fabulous and work so hard to make the most money they can for the Chiltern Centre. The event would not be the same without them! They were impeccably behaved and utterly charming as ever. It looks like we have made almost £10,000 which is fabulous given what a smaller venue we had.  We are delighted!”

The Chiltern Centre is a wonderful purpose-built home-from-home in the heart of Henley.  Their range of care services gives disabled children and young people the chance to get the most out of life, whilst giving practical support and respite to parents and families caring for a disabled child.  For more information and to support the Chiltern Centre, please go to www.chilterncentre.org.uk
