Learning to communicate without a screen!
Moulsford has been offering LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) for the past 8 years. LAMDA lessons are different to class drama lessons as they are predominantly centred around the exams, although there is always time within a lesson to enjoy Drama games and exercises. No matter what direction the boys may choose to follow in the future, LAMDA offers a great opportunity to develop a number of communication skills and increase self-confidence, as well as improving memory ability.
All the exams are rooted in encouraging the boys to develop an understanding – and, hopefully, a love - of literature and the spoken word, which in the age of screens and emails and texts, seems ever more important and the wide ranging LAMDA syllabus support this.
In the past year, the boys have taken exams in everything from Speaking Verse and Prose, Solo Acting, Duologue Acting, Mime, Reading for Performance, Speaking in Public, Devised Drama and Musical Theatre. The boys are taught in small groups to give them the time they need to do some meaningful individual work in their lessons and develop at a faster pace than they might in a larger group. It also means that they can take two exams a year, one at the end of November and one in June.
Many congratulations to the boys who passed their recent LAMDA exams at the end of last term.
