Please Seniors, Can We Have Some More?
Our inaugural Seniors’ Production of Oliver! truly lived up to the legacy set by the Year 7 productions it has replaced. The Seniors' Play was created with the aim of providing those students who are passionate about the Performing Arts with two opportunities to showcase their talent in major productions—one in Year 7 and another in Year 8—while remaining inclusive to all who wish to be part of the cast. Every student in the production had speaking lines, with many given solo singing opportunities, while others contributed as part of the chorus, involved throughout the performance.
An incredible sense of camaraderie was evident within the cast, with boys supporting one another both on and off the stage. Their teamwork shone particularly bright when a few cast members had to step into roles at short notice due to illness. Special thanks to Sam A, Gabriel D, Freddie R-C, and Rupert H for stepping in seamlessly, ensuring that the show went on without a hitch.
We were also fortunate to have the unwavering support of our dedicated staff. Mrs. Manning, Ms. Beardall, Mr. Squire, and Mr. McNaughton masterminded the set, costumes, and props, dedicating a huge amount of time to ensure a high-quality production for the actors to work with. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Braden and Mr. Goff for their outstanding direction and musical guidance, which truly brought the production to life.
A massive congratulations to all the boys involved in Oliver!—this production has not only allowed them to hone their acting skills but also to bond as a group in a meaningful and memorable way. Their dedication and passion for the arts were clear throughout every rehearsal and performance, and it’s been an absolute pleasure to watch them bring this iconic show to life.
For those with children in Years 6 and 7, we highly encourage them to consider signing up for our next production!
