An excellent Prep Schools event

On Saturday 13th January, four boys made the long trip to Great Walstead school in Sussex to take part in an IAPS badminton tournament. In total, 31 teams took part from 17 schools.

There was a fantastic amount of skill on display from all the schools involved which was both a great experience for the two Moulsford teams and a considerable challenge.

Before lunch, the U13’s (Stevie R and Tom A) and the U11’s (Oli S and Felix D) played a round robin tournament with the seven other schools in their group. Matches were the first team to 15 points, with no tie-breaker being played. This led to a series of very tight matches with the score being 15-13 in one!

With four hours of badminton under the boys’ belts, lunch was well received, as well as the results from the group stage. Unfortunately, the U13’s missed out by a few points whilst the U11’s gained entry into the pool side of the competition, with a chance to play for some silverware.

Oli and Felix won their semi-final match against Davenies after a nervy start. They then went on to play Hereford Cathedral school in the final who they had narrowly beaten 15-13 in the group stage. They were able to keep their composure and use what they had learnt about their opponents in their first match to their advantage, comfortably winning.

Very well played to all of the boys involved in the competition.
