Art in action at Moulsford
What a busy week in the Art department! Hopefully you all had the opportunity to view the fabulous work the boys produced on the theme 'Birds of Britain'. The creativity and range of media used is absolutely fantastic to see - from needle felting, actual biscuits and 3D pens, to detailed paintings, pencil sketches and clay and feather models! Thank you to every parent who has helped create and get the work to school, as well as the many staff who have made the exhibition possible. The artwork was displayed in Houses anonymously and staff were able to vote on their favourite and the winning House was Amundsen!
This week we have also been lucky enough to have Old Mole Auberi Chen come back to work with our Year 8s. Auberi was awarded an Art scholarship to Shiplake and is now a professional Street Artist based in London. He taught the boys how to use spray paint safely and accurately, and together they created dynamic murals for each House. The House mascots were then added over the top during a second workshop with a selected group of the boys. Keep your eyes peeled for the final pieces after Half Term!
The Art room has also been abuzz with boys in Years 2-6 working on their Christmas Card designs, which will be available to buy and raise money for the MPA - details to follow. Our Art Lunch clubs (Year 3 and 4 Monday, Year 5 and 6 Tuesday, Year 7 and 8 Thursday) have been popular with many boys this term, who have enjoyed working on their own projects or adding the finishing touches to classwork - fantastic to see!
