Looking to the future
On Monday lunchtime, the School Council met in person for the first time in a long time. With the recent announcement of the new Pre-Prep, much discussion was based around how we could use the classrooms that will be freed up from September 2022.
Ideas ranged from creating a common room space for different year groups, to having a Mindfulness room for quiet reflection. A new Latin classroom was top of the list for some, while a larger library was also mentioned. As cooking continues to spark the interest of many boys it was no surprise that a kitchen and cooking space was also put forward by members of the council. Attention also turned to the Pre-Prep playground and how maybe Year 3 and Year 4 could use that space and develop it with new equipment moving forward.
With it being the Summer Term, the conversation about the pool having a cover was discussed with a split opinion on whether to cover it or not. Finally, the idea of squash courts and a trampoline room were mentioned, although we were unable to discover a suitable space to house either of these ideas at present.
Overall it was a very useful meeting, full of ideas and discussion. The School Council will meet again after half term to discuss a number of these ideas in more depth before presenting to the Headmaster near the end of term.
