A successful afternoon of transition
The sun was shining brightly as the Year 2 boys joined the Year 3 boys on the front field for an exhilarating afternoon of cricket. This sporting afternoon was organised to help the transition from Pre-Prep to Prep school, allowing pupils to meet their new Games staff and giving parents a chance to connect with the teachers who will guide their children through Year 3.
The boys were divided into six enthusiastic teams and rotated through three thrilling cricket games: Continuous Cricket, Golden Child, and Triple Threat. Each game focused on honing essential skills in batting, bowling, and fielding.
'Continuous Cricket' saw the boys keeping the action nonstop, with seamless transitions between batting and fielding, fostering quick reflexes, decision making and some excellent catches! The 'Golden Child' game brought excitement and tension, as players bowled their cricket balls towards the stumps whilst the opposition ran around the track to secure points and not get frozen. Finally, 'Triple Threat' challenged the boys to excel in batting and fielding as they raced against the clock to get as many runs in before the field was set back up.
Parents were treated to a spectacular display of cricketing talent on each pitch. Tremendous bowling performances kept everyone on their toes, while excellent batting provided thrilling moments of skill and precision. Magnificent fielding, with agile catches and swift throws, demonstrated the boys' growing competence and teamwork.
The coaching games were organised and supervised by our dedicated Games staff: Mr. Albon, Mr. Skinner, Miss Browne, Mr. Sparrow, and Mr. Chaffey. We were also delighted to have Leonardo M-M, our helper for the day, whose enthusiasm and support were invaluable.
This transition event was not just about cricket; it was about building connections and confidence. The boys got to know their future classmates and Games staff, forging friendships and gaining a sense of familiarity with their new environment. Parents also had the opportunity to meet the Year 3 teachers, fostering a sense of community and support as their children move forward in their Moulsford journey.
As we look ahead to September, we eagerly anticipate welcoming the new Year 3 cohort to the Rugby fields.
