Head's Blog: Bonfire Night

Head's Blog

What a wonderful evening we had last night for the Moulsford Parents Association’s bonfire and fireworks.  It was lovely to see so many happy faces of all ages enjoying a very traditional English event.

The evening ran incredibly smoothly and this is down to the planning, organisation and hard work of so many of the Moulsford community.  Our thanks go to all the parents and staff who both managed the stalls during the evening and who marshalled everyone safely to the field.  An enormous thank you to the Parents Association who ran the event and especially to Nicola House and her team who took control last night.  Julie Windebank (our catering manager) and her team deserve a special mention for ensuring that nearly 800 people enjoyed a sausage in a bun or pork roll from the hog roast.

Bonfire Field was virtually empty of people by 7pm yet that was not the end of the evening for the Moulsford grounds staff.  There was still a large clear-up operation to complete which went on well into the evening, taking down all the lighting and transporting catering equipment back to the school.  The men had also constructed the bonfire over the previous week, a role which they really rather enjoy, but which nevertheless takes a lot of time, energy and effort.

Moulsford is incredibly fortunate to have such a strong community, and the school is extremely grateful to those who step forward to assist with events.
