Head Boy's Welcome

Head Boy

Moulsford is a community that is full of passion, hard work and curiosity. It is evident from both a pupil’s and an observer’s perspective that the staff are preparing us in the best possible way for our senior schools and life beyond. This is achieved through an abundance of opportunities and activities, both inside and out of the classroom. From theatre trips and debating to river activities, shooting, judo and much more besides. There is something for everyone and so many chances to discover a new talent or hobby.

As with everything, it is important to balance fun with work. Moulsford does this with the broad curriculum and extracurricular activities offered. Each week, in addition to the academic studies, there are drama, music, art, ICT, and design technology lessons. All boys can participate in plays, music and singing recitals and talent shows. We are also coached well in a range of sports throughout the year and learn the value of being part of a team, showing humility when winning and being gracious in defeat.

Moulsford life is busy and engaging, which creates a strong appetite for both learning and food! The kitchen staff are amazing and meals and snacks are varied and plentiful. The dining hall was recently extended to include an outdoor seating area, which is perfect in the summer. In good weather, we are sometimes treated to a barbeque hog-roast out on the lawn.

There is no doubt in my mind that we are extremely privileged with the location of our school. Surrounded by the river and incredibly well-maintained grounds, we are in an environment that allows us to learn in a multitude of ways. Ranging from outside lessons, Kung Fu Punctuation and a wide variety of sports; there is never a dull moment!

However, there is much more to Moulsford life than this. Since joining the school in Year 5, I have felt welcome and involved every step of the way. The school is a safe place to try new things and make mistakes. Success is celebrated and mistakes are supported and seen as an opportunity to grow.

All of this contributes to making Moulsford such a friendly, happy and unique place to be. The school becomes so integral to your life, so much so that you don’t want to leave it behind. However, all good things must come to an end, and friendships made here, I’m sure, will endure the test of time.
