Annual event raises £6,600 for Mary’s Meals
Moulsford’s Annual Sporting Lunch was held at the Royal Automobile Club (RAC) on Pall Mall in London last Friday, with 171 people attending. It was fantastic to see so many Moulsford Dads from across the whole school, including a strong Pre-Prep representation, as well as fathers of former pupils. Former England and Bath rugby player David Flatman was joined this year by Jim Hamilton, retired Saracens and Scotland legend, and together they entertained guests sharing many humorous anecdotes from their professional rugby-playing careers.
As well as being a social event, the RAC lunch provides an opportunity to fundraise. Flats ran an auction of varied and unique lots including a signed Rugby Lions shirt from 2017, and a weekend to Dublin for the Ireland v France match in March 2019.
There was also an extremely testing quiz, this year with a broader sporting feel to it beyond just rugby!
The charity chosen to benefit from this year’s fundraising and the total of £6,600 was Mary’s Meals. Founded in 1983, it is a global movement which sets up school feeding programmes in some of the world’s poorest communities, where hunger and poverty prevent children from gaining an education. Moulsford has chosen to support Mary’s Meals with their vision of providing a daily meal in a place of education to every child who needs it, and in this way, is helping to transform the lives of hundreds of thousands of impoverished children around the world.
Huge thanks go to all those involved in the organisation of the lunch, to those who supported by attending the event and to the generous donors of the auction lots.
