Being an old Mole, I have a fantastic mix of memories and experiences of the school, and can probably justifiably claim to know the place inside out. My love of History started here, fuelled by an excellent teacher who brought the subject to life right before my very eyes.
My school days here were a wonderful time and Moulsford has had the most positive influence on my life. My aim as Head of History is to achieve the same for the pupils now under my care. Having known three of the previous heads of History, I am under no illusion about what it takes to make a success of the role.
My particular enthusiasm is Ancient History and this led me to study Ancient History and Archaeology at the University of Manchester, which has an excellent faculty. I particularly enjoyed getting out on Archaeological digs, including one in Cyprus for a month where we worked on a Bronze Age site.
My other great passion is tennis. Whilst at Bradfield College, I competed for the 1st team for several years and there, and subsequently, achieved my coaching qualifications.
Before returning to Moulsford, first as a gap year student and then staff member, I spent half a year in Greece, coaching tennis for Mark Warner. Rhodes was definitely the place for a great combo of ancient sites and tennis – and a great social life! I returned to this role several times and the experience gained has stood me in very good stead for my tennis coaching at Moulsford.
When I am not teaching history or coaching (and playing) tennis, I will be out and about locally with friends and family. And in the vacations, I travel as much as I can.
