I'm thrilled to be a part of Moulsford's vibrant school community, where I have the privilege of acting as the Director of Sport. My journey into education and sports began at the age of 16 when I started my football coaching journey, earning my coaching badges and diving into community and academy coaching at clubs such as Oxford United, Southampton FC and Reading FC.
My passion for community coaching led me to taking on a role as coach, chairman, and welfare officer at Reading United FC, where I witnessed first-hand the profound impact sports can have on young lives. The honour of receiving the BBC Sports Personality of the Year - Unsung Hero Award in 2004 ignited my interest in education, prompting me to transition into a role as a Teaching Assistant and After-School Club leader while pursuing my BA(ed) in Primary Teaching at Oxford Brookes University.
Balancing full-time work with academic pursuits was challenging, but completing my degree while actively contributing to the school community was immensely rewarding. Over the years, I've held various roles, including Head of PE, Housemaster, Head of Computing and ECT/NQT Leader.
As Director of Sport and Teacher, I'm deeply committed to providing students with enriching experiences both inside and outside the classroom. I firmly believe in the transformative power of sports and strive to create inclusive environments where every child can thrive.
Beyond my professional endeavours, I cherish my time with my wife Sarah, who is also an educator at The Manor School. Together, we share a love for music, arts and DIY projects, and we're proud dog-parents to Ted, the newest addition to our 'Chaffey Pack,' alongside Purdy the cat and Shelley the tortoise. Ted can be found in the Sports Office and seems to be a big hit at breaktime with the boys!
In my downtime, you'll often find me coaching or playing Football and Squash, enjoying leisurely walks with Ted around the school grounds and South Oxfordshire, or diving into DIY projects found on Pinterest. I cherish time spent with loved ones, embracing new experiences, and contributing positively to our community.
I'm honoured to be a part of this incredible school community, where I'm privileged to inspire and empower our students to reach their full potential, both on and off the field and work with some wonderful colleagues who I learn from every day.
