I find education fascinating, and have wanted to be a teacher since around the age of five. I graduated from Rolle College, University of Plymouth in 2001 with a BEd (Hons) in Music and have been lucky enough to have worked in some fantastic, and often challenging, schools throughout the past 24 years.
It is a privilege to have taught children from Reception up to Year 8, as it has given me a deeper understanding of how children develop and learn over a long period of time.
Coming from a technical family, from the start of my career I have been involved in technology in education. I spent a period of time as a Local Authority Consultant for ICT, supporting a variety of schools many of which were in Special Measures. This role also involved training teachers to teach effectively using technology and helping to run conferences, which disseminated good practice. More recently, I have become a school inspector and have had the privilege of visiting schools around the country.
Music has always been a passion, and over the years I have been in many bands as a singer, guitarist or keyboard player. I am married to Richard Squire who runs Forest Schools at Moulsford, and our son Sylvester and dogs Bosun and Mabel who all also go to Moulsford, take up most of our free time!
