I have loved music for as long as I can remember. At school I learned the piano, violin, and viola and realised I had unlocked a whole world of collaboration, creativity and expression. I left school with a love of music but also a keen interest in justice - my first degree was an LLB (Hons) from Edinburgh University and I qualified and practised as a solicitor before realising my true passion was music. While at University I discovered a talent for opera singing, and this led to my decision to trade in my legal career for a Masters in Classical Vocal Performance at Trinity College of Music, London.
I spent several very happy years performing opera and oratorio all over the world, and teaching piano and singing when at home. Over time I realised that I could use my time and talents better, to share my love of music with children as a music teacher. I completed my PGCE while teaching at the Dragon School and went on to become head of the curriculum music department and assistant director of the wider performing department.
I am so proud to join as Director of Music at Moulsford and to be invited to lead a department in such a positive, nurturing and vibrant school. It is my sincere belief that music is for everyone and that all children should be encouraged to develop as performers, composers and informed listeners. My job is to help all children to find a love of music and it is my privilege to be a part of their journey at Moulsford.
