The Wars of the Roses

As part of their work on the Wars of the Roses (their play for Arts Week is coming along wonderfully!), the Year 5s took the chance to enjoy being outside and debate why the Houses of Lancaster and York might have argued quite so badly. Volunteers took turns to represent their town or village, giving reasons why their home was the best place to live, with superb arguments being given in each and every defence. Playgrounds, bakeries, sweet shops, the Thames and restaurants all featured heavily and, while none of the settlements won a clear victory, it was obvious that the boys hit their target of speaking well, listening to opposing views respectfully and having fun at the same time.

Well done Year 5!
