Leo Drives to Success
Leo R in Year 8 has enjoyed a busy summer of karting with success in British championship races in the UK, and international races in Germany, Italy and Sweden.
One of the highlights of his summer was winning the British Kart Grand Prix. The event was held over three days. After several sprint qualification races Leo gained a 2nd place starting position for the final. Despite a poor getaway from the outside of the front row, Leo was able to work his way back up to his original starting position by the half way point of the race. An incident further back in the field, however, resulted in several laps being run under the safety flag. The race eventually resumed with only a few laps remaining. Leo led a strong chasing pack and took the lead with 2 laps to go. A battle ensued behind him, allowing Leo to pull away and win by a clear margin.
Leo’s success earned him qualification for the International Final which will be held in Italy in the October Half Term. We wish him luck for the season ahead.
