An opportunity to try something new

Tuesday saw the first ever ‘Street Food Day’ at Moulsford, providing the boys with the opportunity to try new things and have some fun.

The day started with breakfast for the Boarders who enjoyed a feast of sausage and egg filled toasted muffins, Shakshuka (Middle Eastern-style baked eggs), a Congee bar (Chinese rice porridge) with crisp bacon pieces, chopped chilli, ginger, soy sauce, chopped spring onion, Sriracha sauce and fresh winter berry and banana smoothies.

The main event came at lunchtime with Chicken Shawarma and grilled flat bread, beetroot hummus, shredded vegetable salad and harissa Steamed rice.  The boys also sampled Malaysian-style butternut, edamame and coconut curry, ‘steam-fried’ pak choi and vegetable noodles with Sriracha on the side and spelt grain paella with roasted vegetables and chorizo.

For supper the Boarders tucked in to oriental steamed bao buns with slow-cooked shredded pork or BBQ jackfruit, steamed corn on the cobs and oven baked potato wedges.

All of the boys, including Pre-Prep, enjoyed the canteen-style service and the younger ones loved being like the big boys!  It was fantastic to see the boys so willing to try new foods and we hope they enjoyed the experience.

Thank you to our kitchen team who produce fabulous food day in and day out, but always go the extra mile to create events like this one.
