Charity event for Mary’s Meals and The Whale Company

A Family Tennis Tournament, the brainchild of Fred T in Year 8, took place last Sunday when all four seasons of weather were experienced in one day, from gusty winds to rainstorms to glorious sunshine.  With each boy being partnered by one of his parents or grandparents, the players were organised into two playing groups within two age groups (Years 5/6 and Years 7/8).  Each pair played the others in their group, with the top two progressing into the semis with the winners then fighting it out in the finals.  The competition was fierce but good humoured!

The eventual winners were:

Senior winner: Morgan P and Dad, Runner up: Fred T and Grandad

Junior winner: Freddie C and Dad, Runner up: Harvey C and Dad

Prizes were given for a variety of shots across the day including fastest serve and best trick shot.

A refreshment tent, ably managed by Fred’s sister Isabella, included homemade tennis themed cupcakes and a racket exchange stall also added to the day's profits which will go to this year's school charities.

Thanks to Mr Smith for organising the logistics, to the staff who helped on the day and especially to Fred T and his family.
