Plenty of opportunities for making music
The Music Department has had an extremely busy Arts Week, kicking off with a trip to Radley College for a Prep Schools Orchestral day on Monday. Once again, brass, woodwind and percussion instrumentalists were joined by strings, for a fantastic day of music making. Some challenging music was tackled by each separate group, with everyone coming together for excellent attempts at Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, and Holst’s Mars, from The Planets Suite, both extremely challenging pieces!
On Wednesday and Thursday evenings, parents were treated to two Musical Soirées. These started with a performance by the Senior Choir of ‘One Moment In Time’, and ended with the whole cast performing ‘This is Me’, from The Greatest Showman. In between were many outstanding individual performances across a range of instruments and musical genres. There were also outstanding performances from the Pop Choir and the Jazz Ensemble.
Finally, on the music front, the audience at the Pop Vocalist’s concert on Friday enjoyed performances from over thirty individual boys, ranging from Year 4 to Year 8. The concert opened and closed with performances from the whole Pop Choir.
