Three Moulsford boys help the Prep Schools XI win The Wynyard Gibb Cup Cricket Tournament

Three Year 7 boys recently took part in a day’s training at St Edward’s Oxford, which led to them being selected for the Prep School’s team and competing in the Wynyard Gibb Cup.  Hector H, Archie DP and Jackson A all played really well and helped the team to victory.

The boys took part in a training session with Hampshire CCC coaches, St. Edward’s Cricket Club coaches and some recent St Edward’s leavers, including Miles Hammond (England U19 and Gloucestershire CCC), Calvin Dickinson (Hampshire CCC) and Freddie Simon (Durham MCCU).   The tournament was between Hampshire Under-12s, Oxfordshire Under-12s, Wales Under-12s and the invitational Prep Schools’ XI.

Peter Swainson, Master i/c Cricket at St Edward’s thanked the boys for firstly trialling for and, secondly, participating in the Prep Schools’ XI in the Wynyard Gibb Cup. “It was an absolute pleasure having the boys with us for the weekend and they performed brilliantly on Sunday to win the tournament! I do hope your boys enjoyed themselves and learnt plenty from the day. From the smiles on their faces throughout the day, I’m pretty sure they enjoyed themselves, and from the work our brilliant coaches did with them on Saturday night, Sunday morning and in the nets throughout Sunday, I know they will have learnt something to help improve their cricket going forward. It was an absolute pleasure having your boys with us for the weekend – they were a real credit to you”.
