A busy musical end to the term
The 14th Inter-House Music Competition
On Monday 19th March, representatives of each house competed in the 14th Annual Inter-House Music Competition. Each house is required to submit a Solo Performance, an Ensemble Performance and a House Song. The theme for the House Songs this year was 'Boy Bands', and we heard examples by Five, Take That, 1D and Bros.
Under the watchful eye of the judge, Mr Matt Lowe, the recently appointed Director of Music from Bradfield College, there were notable performances by Milo G, Eddie W and Arion T, but Vinnie K, singing Beyoncé's song 'Listen', was named as winner of the Solo Round, competing for Drake. Cabot's version of 'Shed a Light' by Cheat Codes won the Ensemble Round, and once again Cabot, singing 1D's 'What Makes You Beautiful' were named winners of the House Song.
As a result, Cabot emerged as the overall winners for the second year running, and Eddie W was named 'Star Performer'. Well done to all the boys, and thank you for all the effort put in by staff to help them prepare. Winners and losers alike, every single boy who was in school on Monday went home having sung in the competition, which at the end of the day is the real aim of this event. Well done everyone!

Year 4 perform for charity at Dorchester Abbey
On Wednesday evening, our Year 4 boys participated in a concert organised by Radley College at Dorchester Abbey. The boys sang alongside children from other local primary schools, the Radley Choristers, the Radley Choral Society and a live band, in aid of the Footsteps charity. This fantastic charity, based in Dorchester-On-Thames, aids the rehabilitation of young people suffering from neurological and neuromotor disorders. The boys demonstrated the power of music and performed a captivating piece of music, led by one of the charity’s members. They were then fortunate to have the opportunity to perform one of the songs they have been learning, ‘Peace Child’, in this wonderful setting. The evening culminated in a large performance, with all musicians involved, singing three rousing songs! What a fantastic experience!

Sam Gladstone, Precentor (Head of Music) at Radley College said “The children were brilliant - performing with such energy, enthusiasm and joy. Thank you for preparing them so well - particularly for 'The Water is Wide' - it was so wonderful to hear them singing so well, and thoroughly inspiring. Please pass on my congratulations and thanks to all of the children - it was a privilege to make music alongside them.”
It was an inspiring evening and the Concert raised around £3,000 for the Footsteps Centre.
