A wonderful evening of fundraising.
A South African folk chant and procession into the African-themed Sports Hall by the boys was an appropriate opening to this fun and highly successful evening. In excess of £17,000 was raised for the tour, SKRUM and Goedgedacht charities during the event and the touring boys had pivotal roles throughout the evening. From providing musical and dance entertainment, serving the delicious 'braai', as well as helping at the silent auction, they all worked hard and were a credit to their parents as well as the school. Jonty Hearnden, TV antiques expert and former parent at the school, was the charming host and he created a lively atmosphere with the ice breaker Try/No try. Zinzan Brooke, arguably the best rugby player of his generation, was the special guest at the dinner and provided insightful and amusing anecdotes from his time as a New Zealand All Black. It was then on to the dance floor for some Dad - and Mum – dancing! Thank you to everyone who was involved and who supported this fantastic event.
