Kart season gets underway
The kart racing season is now well underway, albeit with a number of social distancing restrictions in place in the paddock, and our resident karter, Leo R in Year 7, has made a great start.
Leo benefited from a change in the rules this year, which allows younger drivers to move up to more powerful senior size karts from the age of 11. Leo was immediately successful in the pre-season races, winning on debut in a senior kart on the weekend of his 11th birthday. The start to the main British and European championship seasons was, however, delayed until the summer holidays. Since then, he has raced every weekend. Now at the half way point, Leo is 2nd in the British Championship with one race win and podium finishes in all other races.
This coming weekend Leo will be racing in Italy in the second round of the European Championship, and we wish him luck.
