Edible books; a zero emissions food delivery company; cool to touch ovenware – these are just three business ideas from the Moulsford entrepreneurs of the future. This week has seen the culmination of the Year 7 Dragon’s Den project, during which boys work in pairs to bring a product idea to ‘market’.

The boys work together on the idea for their product, design a website, produce an advert, make a prototype/mood board, and write a basic business plan. In their pairs boys then present to four dragons in the theatre in front of an audience of up to 70, pitching for investment in their business. This project is not only excellent fun, but allows the boys to develop so many cross-curricular and real life skills.

What better way to get your reluctant reader going than Freddie M’s and Joe K’s ‘Fread’. Their books are made out of flavoured rice paper which children can eat once they’ve read! Feel like a takeaway but are concerned about the emissions generated from the delivery? Help save the planet and satisfy both your conscience and hunger by ordering from Ben M’s and James G’s ‘Great Green Food Delivery’ which is committed to zero emissions. Ever burnt your hands on a hot oven tray? This will be a problem of the past with Thomas F’s and Alfie G’s ‘Cool to Touch Trays’.

This morning we held the final School Council meeting of term in my office. There were representatives from Years 3 - 8 and we discussed important matters such as match teas, break time attire, prep rooms at break times, and choices of sports. I was extremely impressed by how the boys listen to each other’s views, did not talk over their fellow Council members, and articulated their thoughts. The School Council is a great example of grassroots democracy at work, and is an institution from which our current crop of politicians could learn a great deal.
