21 Heads Fundraise for Children’s Mental Health Charity
On Tuesday 27th August Mr Beardmore-Gray completed the Heads Up Challenge, along with twenty other Prep School Heads from across the UK. The challenge was a sunrise to sunset triathlon consisting of a 7km sea kayak, 80km bike ride and 15km hike in Pembrokeshire, and was designed to raise funds and awareness for Place2Be, a leading UK charity supporting children’s mental health in schools.
The challenge started at 5.30am and the Heads agreed to stick together throughout the challenge, meaning they were only as fast as their slowest man! This lead to the Heads spending an eye-watering 8 hours in the saddle during the second part of the triathlon. The hike was then very tough going and the group made it back to base far later than hoped and in the dark, at 9.00pm.
However, the pain was worth it as almost £86,000 has been raised so far between the twenty-one Heads. They had set themselves a target of £100,000 and there is still time to help them reach their goal. Mr Beardmore-Gray has already received a lot of support, for which he is extremely grateful, but if anyone else would like to add to his total, his Just Giving page can be accessed here.

Thankfully the footage of Mr B-G running his kayak aground on a submerged rock has been edited out! Place2Be is a children's mental health charity that works to improve the emotional wellbeing of children and young people. The charity helps them to cope with wide-ranging and often complex social issues including bullying, bereavement, domestic violence, family breakdown, neglect and trauma.
