More amazing fundraising for Inspire

Jonny E in Year 8 completed the Three Peaks Challenge over the summer to raise money for Inspire ahead of the South Africa Rugby Tour next year, where the boys will visit the Inspire Farm.

It was a fantastic effort from Jonny (who was also joined by classmate Will G for Snowdon). Here he gives us some of his highlights:

Hardest Mountain: Definitely Ben Nevis. I hadn't done it before and it was the first mountain that we did so it took me a while to find my mountain legs. The weather was quite wet and I found the last hour tough as it was rocky and steep on the last stretch so I had to dig deep to push through. I was happy to get to the top and even happier to get to the bottom again.
Favourite Mountain: Snowdon. I have climbed Snowdon a few times now so know the different trails and I enjoy climbing it. Although it was windy, it was dry which was a big help. Will and his dad joined us for Snowdon and we had lots of laughs on the mountain.
Biggest disappointment: The weather. It is not much fun climbing mountains in the rain. You need to go a bit slower as the rocks are slippy so it slows you down and you don't get the views which is a shame. It rained for most of Ben Nevis and Scafell. Snowden was drier thankfully, although it did get quite windy at the top.
What motivated you to keep going: My dad had done the Three Peaks a few times already so I wanted to get to the top and to the bottom ahead of him each time. That motivated me to keep pushing on and to keep the pace up. My dad did do well though as he did have all the driving to do from one mountain to the next whilst I got to chill!
Best moment: Having a shower after we finished the last mountain, that felt good!

STATS:
Ben Nevis 40765 steps, 463 floors
Scafell: 30495 steps, 311 floors
Snowdon: 33935 steps, 329 floors
Overall distance covered 50km

What have you done since the Three Peaks: I didn’t want to stand up for long the following day as my legs hurt a bit but I finished off my Michael Vey series of books which I got for my birthday. I also finally started my summer Maths homework :( All good things come to an end!

Jonny’s fundraising total currently stands at £1,075, which is a huge total considering his original target was to raise £250.

“Thank you to everyone who donated towards the challenge for charity. Your kindness and generosity kept me going on the mountains and I know will help children in rural South Africa to achieve their goals too.”
