Staff fundraising in the Alps
Last week Laura Wood, in our Marketing team, headed off to the Alps to take part in the Coppatrek, a charity trek organised by the breast cancer charity CoppaFeel! and headed up by actress (and I’m a Celebrity winner) Giovanna Fletcher. The trek covered parts of the Tour du Mont Blanc with the team walking for 7 to 8 hours a day, with shelf walks, steep ascents and descents and rocky terrain featuring daily.
Laura spent the week camping in a tent with a stranger, sharing 4 toilets with 120 other people and living out of a bag! There were days trekking in 28-degree heat, there was snow, there was rain, and she covered approximately 65 miles with 145,000 steps walked over 5 days, often at altitude. However, there was also a lot of talking, new friendships made, laughter and inevitable tears as the women shared their reasons for trekking and their links to breast cancer. Laura herself was trekking to mark 10 years since she lost her close friend to the disease aged 33.
Laura has personally raised over £4300 to date, but the team collectively have hit £530,000, which will be spent on raising awareness in universities, schools, festivals and businesses about the importance of checking your chest, especially amongst younger people.
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far and for those who wish to add their support, the link is here.
