Mr Symonds competes in one of the hardest endurance races on the planet - the Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race.
During the Easter weekend, over 650 kayakers and canoeists descended on the rural town of Devizes in Wiltshire to attempt to paddle 125 miles - many without stopping - to Westminster Bridge in Central London. Among them was Moulsford’s very own Mr Symonds who was racing for the sixth time.
As if the distance wasn’t enough, there are also 77 locks to deal with, with paddlers having to get out of the boat and run around the lock with all their equipment, before getting back in and continuing on.
The event, in its 71st year, sees on average a third of participants fail to finish but we are delighted to report that Mr Symonds was not among them and completed the race across four days.
Congratulations to Mr Symonds on an amazing achievement.
