All boys in Years 5 to 8 were involved in rugby matches at 6 different venues on Wednesday

Wellington Rugby Festival

The U11A squad went to Wellington to take part in their Festival of Rugby.  In keeping with the new guidelines from the RFU, no scores were kept and the emphasis was on learning and enjoyment.  The boys were in a tough group which included some of the best prep school teams in the country and they acquitted themselves well and learnt some valuable lessons over the course of the day.

One of the most special aspects to the day was that many Old Moles who are now at Radley and Wellington College came not just to watch our boys but encourage, inspire and support their every move! These boys were a real credit to Radley and Wellington College.  (Henry Weeks)

The U13 A team had a tough group at the Wellington College Festival but they played with the ball in hand, and showed good effort and determination in defence throughout the day.  They started well, with some lovely passages of play against Thomas' Clapham, with Harry M finishing off the move of the game. However, the opposition had two big strong runners who scored all of their five tries.  We continued to play good rugby against Shrewsbury House and then Dulwich, and although again we scored well-worked tries we came up just short in both games.  We rose to the challenge against Caldicott and the boys seemed to enjoy the open style of the game on a big pitch.

The team finished the day against a determined Danes Hill side and although we were down by a score, their determination was evident as we levelled the scores towards the end when we turned over the ball in our 22 and moved it wide to allow Harry M to go the length.   Fine effort by all involved on a long, chilly, but enjoyable day.   (Jim Hamilton-Smith)

Rugby Festival at St Edward’s, Oxford

The U12A team travelled to St Edward’s in Oxford to play in a festival consisting of 25 teams. With snow scheduled the night before, the boys were relieved to arrive to a sunny set of pitches with no frost in sight. The boys showed a huge amount of progress throughout the day working on the finer details on the U12 format of the game. Their determination was repaid with them scoring 16 tries throughout the day and a real intensity in defence meant that they only conceded 5 tries. A great day with real purpose and improvement. Well done boys and thank you Teddies.  (James Springer)

Radley Rugby Festival

The U10A's had a fantastic afternoon of Rugby at Radley. Despite the cold conditions the boys played some excellent rugby and really upped the quality and intensity of their tackling as the afternoon went on. The boys showed great resilience and determination throughout the entire afternoon, however this was best highlighted in their second game, where they finished with one player less than their opposition due to a couple of unfortunate injuries. The boys’ behaviour throughout the afternoon was excellent and they were a credit to both themselves and the school. Well done boys!  (Jake Albon)

Fixtures v Caldicott and The Beacon

We also had some exciting fixtures against Caldicott and The Beacon.  The U11s had a tough encounter against The Beacon. They were resilient and enthusiastic throughout, putting some outstanding defensive work in, all afternoon. The boys showed great endeavour and teamwork and produced a great afternoon of rugby. Well done to all the boys.

The U10s produced another great all round effort and team work against Caldicott.  The boys displayed resilience, hard work and determination in all aspects of the game. They are all improving every game and have a fantastic attitude and work ethic. Well done to all boys involved.
