1st VI Moulsford 6-a-side and Colts Bradfield 7-a-side
Last Saturday, Moulsford hosted one of five IAPS regional tournament competitions for Under 13 six-a-side football. There was some wonderful football played, with some very close matches and all of the boys from all of the teams, making a significant contribution. St George’s Windsor deserve a special mention for some outstanding football, they were unlucky to come third in their group and narrowly miss out. Well done to the three qualifying teams – Ludgrove, Farleigh and Twyford - and good luck to them all in the finals! Moulsford thoroughly enjoyed hosting the competition and we look forward to welcoming everyone back again next year.
On Sunday, the Colts A footballers had an excellent afternoon at Bradfield. They performed consistently well through the course of the group stages, winning three and drawing one of their initial matches to top the group. This meant qualification for the main competition quarter finals and our opposition were a strong Elstree side. A tough battle ensued, culminating in golden goal extra time, in which a player had to come off for each team after every minute. We were three vs. three by the time captain Sam W finished in style, to secure our berth in the semi-final.
Up next were last year's winners (and ultimately to become this year's winners, Parkside). The match was very closely contested, with the Moulsford boys showing great spirit to compete with a very good footballing side. Ultimately, our efforts were not quite enough, but a great deal of pride can be taken from the level of performance, as well as the character showed by our nine players over the course of the afternoon.
