A fantastic atmosphere & excellent competitive spirit
Moulsford’s Sports Day took place last Friday, with everyone still in a state of shock following the overnight EU referendum results. Fortunately the highs and lows of politics and our changing European status did not remotely affect the boys’ spirits or enthusiasm for what is one of the highlights of the school calendar.
In spite of a typically English mix of sunshine and showers, track and field events were underway by 11.15am, with each house giving their all in an atmosphere of competitive teamwork.
The tented village of gazebos provided welcome shelter from passing showers during the lunch break, and an impressive array of picnic dishes were shared and enjoyed among families.
The year group relay races followed, and finally the hotly contested tug of war, when cheerful competitive spirit reached its climax, with Drake taking the final bow. However, it was not enough for their overall score, and the House trophy was presented to Amundsen who won with an impressive 1823 points, ahead of Drake with 1730, Bering with 1700 and Cabot with 1678.
Huge thanks go to Mr Springer and Mr Griffiths for organising such a superb event. It was wonderful to see every boy in the school contributing so wholeheartedly for their house, in a fantastic atmosphere of effort, reward and, above all, cheerful participation.
