Whole School

A poignant and moving service

A thought provoking and moving Remembrance Day service was held on Friday in the Sports Hall, led this year by members of Year 7.  Theo H (7A), George A (7D) and Jonny E (7O) spoke confidently about World War II and the Falklands War, as well as remembering the important contribution played by so many countries. The boys also talked about the Black Rose Poppy and the work Year 5 had done during Black History Month.

There were also contributions by the Junior and Senior Choirs, and a beautiful rendition of ‘Empty Chairs at Empty Tables' from Les Misérables by Billy V in Year 8. Attended by the whole school, this act of Remembrance clearly struck a chord with both boys and staff.

Head Boy Zeb B led the prayers and the traditional one-minute’s silence after ‘The Last Post’. Our thanks to the History Department for the planning and to the Music Department for putting together such a moving and memorable Remembrance Day Service.
