Collection of Toys for Charity

We asked the school to bring in new or ‘as new’ toys and other gifts to donate in support of the Reading Family Aid ‘Toys and Teens Appeal 2018’.

We have been overwhelmed by both the quality and quantity of the donations received this week.  The generosity of the Moulsford Community has yet again been terrific and we would like to thank everyone who kindly gave items to support this very worthwhile and local project.  As a result, there will now be lots more smiley faces on Christmas morning.

2018 marks the 40th anniversary of Reading Family Aid and it is with mixed feelings that they reach this milestone. Sadness that there is still a need for the appeal.  Our collections will be available to families in Reading through their social workers, health visitors etc.  A team of about 30 people sort the toys out all next week and then they will be distributed to the social workers who in turn pass them on to the families.  Sadly this year Reading Family Aid have received applications for a further 200 children so the gifts will be distributed to 800 families in Reading.

These statistics are shocking, especially when you realise that this is the reality on our own doorstep and we feel that this is an opportunity not to be missed. We really can make a massive difference and your support, as ever, for all the school’s charity initiatives is hugely appreciated, thank you!

Year 8 Parents’ Raffle

At the Year 8 Parents’ Christmas Drinks last week, they held a Raffle and raised £275 to support our school charity, The Whale Company.   How wonderful to see such spontaneous fundraising.  The Moulsford Community never seems to miss an opportunity to think of the bigger picture and we are very grateful for your support.

Year 4 & 5 Lego Challenge

Some boys in Year 4 recently organised a Lego Challenge for Years 4 and 5.  The Lego Charity Challenge took place during their lunch break today. The boys paid £1 to enter the challenge, which was to build the tallest lego tower on a 4-block base.  The money raised is going to our school charities, The Whale Company and Mary’s Meals.  This is another wonderful example of our boys giving up their time to help others.
