A committed and enjoyable performance from Moulsford

Last weekend the Moulsford boys attended the IAPS National Football 6-a-side Finals held at King's College Taunton.  We were one of 24 schools to qualify through the regional tournament in which 80 schools had participated.

It seemed a while ago that the football season finished for us and it took time for the boys to settle into playing together again.  There are no easy games when you get to this level and many of the schools are primarily footballing schools.  We started with a loss against Ardingly, going 2-0 down in the first half.  The boys rallied in the second half and played much better, however, struggled to convert this into goals. The boys had a terrific game against Summer Fields, who had beaten us 9-0 in the season.  A late goal from the opposition centre forward was the difference, but it could have gone either way.

Against King's Hall we finally found the net, dominating the game and ending victorious with a 2-0 win.  This left us with a final game to qualify for the plate tournament. Danes Hill played some good football and went ahead 2-0, however the boys fought hard and scoring, only to have it disallowed for not fully crossing the line.  It was clearly not meant to be.

The referee commented on the boys’ commitment and level of enjoyment in comparison to other teams.  It was a pleasure to see the boys playing at this level and representing the school in such a positive manner, regardless of results.
