Rugby in the West Country
The U11As had a fantastic tour to the West Country recently. With Mr Symonds as chauffeur, the boys were taken down to play Blundells Prep school on the Friday and enjoyed playing in a really competitive fixture, which they narrowly lost. The evening was spent enjoying the hospitality of some Blundells host families.
After a hearty breakfast, the boys headed off to a festival at Millfield Senior School. The boys played on the 'Sir Gareth Edwards pitch' and did the great man's name justice as they recorded some very impressive victories! After some match tea, we all headed back to Oxfordshire!
Meanwhile, the U13As enjoyed a wonderful start to their season with a tournament in the November sun at Millfield Senior School. It was the team’s first matches of the season and we were playing a little catch up with the other teams there. We managed to beat Port Regis in our first match, then narrowly lost to Millfield by four tries to three in the second match, before a last minute try against Taunton to allow us to just win by three tries to two.
All of the boys played a lot of rugby and often in different positions and a lot of progress was made in one afternoon. It was a pleasure to watch the boys play and we now look forward to a very enjoyable season.
