Our Wonderful World
Have you heard of a 'mermaid's purse'? Do you know which sea creature vomits its stomach to the outside of its body in order to catch and make its dinner? Have you ever wondered why an octopus has blue blood; or perhaps thought that coral are plants? The children in Year 1 were fortunate to learn some fascinating facts about sea creatures when they ventured to the deep of the National Marine Aquarium during a virtual tour. Some of the facts were quite magical - for example the fact that the smallest shark, called the Dwarf Shark, is the size of your hand; however, some were a bit disgusting - such as the facts that lobsters urinate through their eyes to communicate and starfish eject their stomachs to prepare for dinner. And so our topic goes ... what a wonderful world!
