The annual Ridgeway Rhino charity cycle ride took place on Sunday, and this year it also included a runner (well done Mr Corbett!)
The 21-mile ride started at White Horse Hill and followed the beautiful Ridgeway before finishing at Moulsford where a welcoming committee had assembled. The Rhino was open to boys in Years 5 - 8, parents, staff and friends.
The weather was nearly perfect and while there were a few scrapes, busted tyres and bent rims, a great day was had by all. However, for at least one accomplished mountain biking Dad there was a sense of humbling for being the first (and second) of his group to fall from the bike in a rut after coaching the kids to be careful (NB to that Dad, at least the kids listened well!)
There were 77 riders, which is a fantastic turnout despite some dropouts in the final days. Maybe next year we can do a running category and see how many beat the cyclists!
Thank you to everyone who organised the event, took part and volunteered along the route. You all helped to make it a remarkable day, raising funds for Mary's Meals and Soundabout. We hope to see you in next year's Rhino, which will hopefully once again support the South Africa tour.
