Year 8’s Ben M competes in national scavenger hunt

Last weekend, on a rainy Saturday, as part of Maths Week England, there was a family scavenger hunt, which you could complete with things around your house. The scavenger hunt was hosted on an app called Goose Chase. We could see everyone's progress, completing their tasks around the country. Overall there were 35 tasks to do, from sonnets to making a maths equation with hair, with extra points being awarded for creativity. The picture you can see was our take on “do an impression of a mathematician who has just solved the Riemann Hypothesis.” My sister's teddy, with a bottle of Champagne and the equation written in front of it. The challenge started at 10:00 and we were working, completing tasks, all the way to 15:30, with only a short break for lunch. The challenge finished at 17:00. Then there was a zoom call at 18:30 where highlights from the day were shown. Over 100 families entered and were split into 3 groups. The top 3 from each group had a chance at being the overall winner. We finished in first place in our group and came second overall!
