Inspiring and Funny talks by Alex T Smith and David Baddiel

On Monday the Leopards and Lions visited the Kenton Theatre in Henley to listen to notable author and illustrator Alex T Smith.  The talk was one of many events hosted during the Henley Children’s Literary Festival and was both educational and hilarious!

Alex T Smith is the creator of the Claude series and a former World Book Day illustrator and he introduced us to his brand new character Mr Penguin. We heard how Alex gets inspiration for his hilarious characters and learnt top secret illustrator tips.  The boys were lucky enough to be one of the first to get their hands on his brand new book, Mr Penguin: The Lost Treasure.    The boys also had the opportunity to follow a step-by-step tutorial on how to illustrate their very own Mr Penguin - the results were very impressive and are displayed in the classrooms.  Why not pop in for a look.

On Thursday morning Year Five enjoyed a wonderful talk at the Kenton Theatre by the celebrated comedian and children's author, David Baddiel. As well as reading excerpts from his books, Baddiel chatted about his inspiration for becoming a writer and provided some hilarious anecdotes behind the creation of some of his characters and ideas. A fun and inspiring morning promoting reading for enjoyment and it was great to be part of the excellent Henley Literary Festival.
