Spring Term Report from the Boarding House

This term boarding has been brilliant. We have had the perfect mix between work and play. Highlights have included an amazing time in the Boarders’ Quiz, with each member of the boarding staff having put together a round. In addition to this, we have finished the strongly contested Masterchef, which was started last term. Kindly, Mr Beardmore-Gray and Mr Clements judged our final. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed this, and so the staff have organised baking for the Year 8’s on Thursdays, and Years 5 to 7 on Mondays.

Mr Davey has joined the Boarding House this term, and has settled in brilliantly. He has been an asset to the house, bringing his sporting expertise, and everyone has loved his company. A few weeks ago, we watched Wellington U15’s, against Berkshire County; it was a fantastic match, and we all loved it. There has also been a cinema trip and an outing to the pantomime. The sun is beginning to set much later and so we are having more time to play outside in the evenings. Ultimate frisbee has been very popular throughout the year groups, but so too rugby, football, basketball, cricket, tennis, hockey and many other sports, as well as non-sporting activities.

This term, the food in the boarding house has been incredible. In the mornings, we are offered a wide range of cereals, cooked breakfasts, toast, yoghurts, fruit, pancakes; we are certainly not left hungry! Another very popular thing at breakfast is the smoothie maker, this term we have been offered many different fruits, and vegetables to use, to blend into a smoothie. Supper has been exquisite throughout the term and is something that everybody looks forward to. On Tuesday evenings, each dorm continues to choose supper, and this is something that everybody likes. So, thank you very much to the kitchen staff, and thank you very much to the staff who have been involved in the Boarding House, as they have provided close to 40 boys with amazing evenings, and lots of enjoyment.

With Easter approaching, we are all looking forward to the Easter treasure hunt on the last day of term! Happy Easter to all of the staff and boys in the Boarding House.
