Trip to Wellington Country Park

Who knew that a pig could be trained to sit?  Would you be surprised to hear that sheep can recall faces just like us humans?  Or perhaps that alpacas are known as lawnmowers for the way they eat the top of the grass only?

These are some of the fascinating facts that Year 1 learned about farm animals on their trip to Wellington Country Park on Tuesday.  We had such a fun and busy day exploring the park, bathed in sunshine.  We jumped aboard the Wellington train to go on a magical tour of the enchanted wood, where we spotted fairy doors, a teddy bears’ picnic and characterful creatures.  We lost count of the number of adventure playgrounds that had us climbing, jumping, swinging and zipping; and who could have anticipated our hearty roars in the dino-park and authoritative sailor commands on the pirate ship?

One of our lasting memories will surely be of feeding Marmite, Nutella and Marmalade, the young cows that ran out of their shelter to greet us.  Year 1 Panthers and Pumas have established themselves as a great team of boys and girls, who are ready for the opportunities that the year ahead brings …
