This term the Year 7 boys engaged in a captivating cross-curricular learning venture through their Dragons Den projects. ICT:
Website Creation: Designing and building a website provides the boys with the opportunity to develop their digital skills and understand the significance of an online presence in effective marketing.
Design Technology:
Design Board: Creating a visual representation of their product's design helps the boys communicate their ideas and demonstrates its benefits to potential investors.
Prototypes: Developing prototypes allows pupils to apply design principles and showcase their concepts more effectively.
Drama and Art:
Promotional Advert: Filming and editing a promotional advert in iMovie demands creativity and collaboration and communication skills.
Presentations: Developing presentation skills is crucial and using dramatic elements can help the boys to communicate more effectively.
Financial Literacy:
Handling Finances: Proficiently managing company finances through spreadsheets provides valuable skills, educating the boys on budgeting and financial responsibility.
Pitching to the 'Dragons':
Confidence and Communication: presenting to a panel of ‘Dragons’ involves public speaking, gives the boys experience of responding to challenging questions, and develops their critical thinking skills.
Recognition of Effort:
Acknowledging Unsuccessful Pitches: Recognising that not all exceptional ideas secure investment is a crucial aspect of the learning process. It instils resilience and highlights the value of effort irrespective of outcomes.
