The Wind in the Willows
The theme for the Pre-Prep Activities Week was Wind in the Willows and the Bobcats started their week with a visit to the River and Rowing museum in Henley where they got involved in crafts and learning about boats. They walked along the riverbank and saw places that Toad, Ratty, Badger and Mole might like to live. They also visited the wonderful Wind in the Willows display in the museum.
The boys have been doing various craft activities in the classroom; on Wednesday they focussed on air and water. Bobcats all made their own kite and painted a picture on canvas. On Thursday morning their focus was on transport and the boys made boats and cars. They also had a Teddy Bear’s Picnic, sang songs and had a jolly time. The boys also made clay models of some of the characters from the story, which they hope will be dry enough to paint next week.
The boys in Years 1 and 2 started the week having fun across the Pre-Prep Classrooms making some lovely creative masks, toad life cycles and finger puppets! They then had a fun trip to The Four Kingdoms along with the whole of Pre-Prep, and everyone agreed what a great park it was! The boys took part in workshops including river raft building where they had to use popsicles to float a cuddly toy on the lake, wildlife hunting and looking for habitats. There was even time for a tractor ride and meeting lots of lovely animals in the petting zoo. Tigers also had a fun picnic at Moulsford Rec and played lots of great team games, followed by a lovely Teddy Bear's Picnic with some of their favourite toys. On Thursday in Year 2 the boys had a day on the river in catacanoes with a walk and picnic on the river bank.
The week was rounded off with a super 'It's a Knockout' games morning and cinema session in the theatre with popcorn. It was an excellent week full of fun and smiles!
