Hard working boys
Year 2 have been working extraordinarily hard since the start of Virtual Moulsford (and before of course) and they are taking all of the changes in their stride. In Maths we have been 2D and 3D shape hunting around our houses and looking for all of their features when we find them. Our English lessons have found us focusing on a wonderful book called 'The Colour Monster' and it has inspired the boys to create their own monster and to then write a story all about him. A colour monster is unique in that he changes colour according to his mood so planning our story was very important so that our monster's colour matched what was happening. The boys have used some of the most beautiful descriptive language which would keep any reader hooked. Some examples of this are: flaming crimson rose; milky, scrumptious, yummy chocolate; spiky purple and green horns and so many more I could go on and on.
Last Friday we took part in a virtual zoo lesson focusing on habitats. Despite some minor technical hiccups, the lesson was lots of fun and really had us all thinking about where different animals live and why it suited them. We have just joined live PE which I know the boys got so much out of; we are just so lucky to have a sports department determined to keep the boys physically active and having fun. On top of all of this wonderful learning, the Forest School website has relaunched and the boys spent Friday afternoon putting their minds to designing, and in some cases making, bird feeders which was a wonderful end to our week.
Every Friday the Lions have decided that it should be dress up and disco day. They have had pyjama day and favourite costume day and some of the boys got their disco lights going and they all danced away! Last week Miss Wilkinson could not stop giggling!
There is a real 'we will make of this our very best' attitude coming from all of the boys and I am confident they will.
