Learning about Fantastic Plants
Year 2 had a wonderful day out at The Nature Discovery Centre last week, learning about Fantastic
Plants. They were amazed to find out that even when we are asleep we are using plants – from the oxygen that we breathe to the cotton pillowcases we rest our heads on! The boys started the day finding out about pollinators and seed dispersal and even had a chance to role play as squirrels hiding food for the winter.
In the afternoon the boys explored the area around the lake and woods, finding out about the Secret Names of Trees. They also made their own biodegradable pots and planted wildflowers, to help the bees, which they were invited to take home with them.
A great time was had by all and, of course, lunch was high on the list of favourite moments as is to be expected in the minds of small (sorry, not-so-small) boys!
