Clever staging of a classic story
Year 5 took a long bus ride to King's Cross for their theatre trip to see the adaptation of Edith Nesbitt's famous novel, The Railway Children. Part of the old station there has been cleverly reconstructed to create a most unusual stage which was awarded the British Theatre Building of the Year Award. The stage runs through the middle of the audience, the foyer is decorated like a station and on a couple of occasions, a live steam train drives through the middle of the theatre! It was a fantastic production and the boys were all very excited about the show and enjoyed the rather long afternoon (although they might have been more excited about the ice cream at the interval!)
