A Marathon walk in aid of Action Against Cancer
At 6.30am on a thankfully dry and still Sunday morning 220 people set off from beside the river here at Moulsford Prep School on a 26 mile walk to raise money for Action Against Cancer. The route meandered alongside the river Thames, took in part of the historic Ridgeway and looped around the beautiful Nettlebed Estate. Along the way, the walkers were treated to croissants, fruit and myriad types of sugary sweets to keep their spirits up and their feet moving. At the finish line back here at Moulsford they were treated to a goody bag and a well-deserved beer and burger pick-me-up!
The walk was in aid of Action Again Cancer, an amazing charity which supports an oncology research team at Hammersmith Hospital headed up by world-renowned oncologist Professor Justin Stebbing. WalkWithMe chair, Annie Smith says of the day – “We've had an amazing response to this year's walk. Our fundraising total of £87,000 (and rising) is a reflection of how the work that Action Against Cancer does truly touches people. This money goes straight into the lab and saves peoples' lives!”
Well done to all the organisers, walkers, volunteers and sponsors who helped make this such a successful event. Our thoughts go to all those close to us who are fighting against cancer and to Professor Stebbing for all the wonderful work that he and his team do.
