Since September 2022, the Pre-Prep is housed in a newly constructed state-of-the-art building next to the main school site.
The new Pre-Prep is home to a Pre-School, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. The co-educational Pre-School is for boys and girls who have turned 3 years old. While the Pre-Prep is on a separate site across the road from the current buildings, Moulsford is one school with lots of interaction between the mixed-sex Pre-Prep and the boys-only Prep School.
In terms of the design itself, the building was carefully planned by the school architect to incorporate eco-friendly systems such as solar panels and air source heat pumps to provide underfloor heating, and there is natural ventilation through roof turrets. Green roofs cover flat roof areas, and extensive planting and landscaping with wild flower meadows enhances the external areas. The traditional black painted wood-framed structure with a pitch-tiled roof is in keeping with the Chiltern farmyard barn style of the surrounding area.
The U-shaped layout allows for separate outdoor playing areas for the children, accessed direct from classrooms, with a central courtyard play area and soft all-weather flooring. The surrounding field provides plenty of space for outdoor learning, and the Pre-Prep has its own entrance and drop-off zone.
